Complex Care Teaching Assistant - Early Years - Islington
Full Time | Term Time Only | September 2025 Start
£105 to £120 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with a specialist early years setting in Islington to appoint a Complex Care Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with significant medical and developmental needs.
The setting supports nursery and reception-aged children with a range of complex SEND, including physical disabilities, medical needs, sensory impairments and global developmental delays. Many of the children require 1:1 support with feeding, medication and intimate care. The school takes a fully therapeutic and child-centred approach, working closely with on-site nurses, therapists and families.
This is a rewarding and highly specialist role suited to someone with previous experience in complex needs settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and group support for children with complex medical and developmental needs
* Assist with tube feeding, medication routines, and daily personal care tasks
* Work alongside nurses, therapists and class teachers to deliver EHCP-driven learning and care plans
* Use communication systems such as PECS, Makaton or visual schedules
* Monitor emotional and physical wellbeing, and respond appropriately to medical needs
* Create a nurturing, engaging and sensory-friendly environment for early learners
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs in early years or special education
* Confidence with feeding plans, administering medication and managing care routines
* Training in manual handling, PEG feeding, epilepsy or similar is highly desirable
* A patient, caring and responsive approach
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and dignity in personal care

* Easily commutable from Camden, Haringey, Hackney and surrounding boroughs
