Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant - Infrastructure Projects

We are seeking a Senior to Principal Acoustic Consultant to join our growing infrastructure team. This role offers the opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and complex multi-disciplinary planning applications.

Responsibilities
As a Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant, you will:
Lead and deliver high-impact acoustic assessments for infrastructure projects, including road, rail, and airport schemes.
Develop and apply bespoke assessment frameworks and craft compelling narratives to support successful planning outcomes.
Collaborate with expert modelling teams and multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Engage with stakeholders, provide expert witness contributions, and influence decision-making at the highest level.
Contribute to the development of analytical tools and methodologies to advance the field of infrastructure acoustics.
Manage projects and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
Essential:
Strong interest and experience in environmental acoustics.
Proven track record in multi-disciplinary projects, including modelling and report writing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, Word).
Understanding of UK and international noise legislation.
Willingness to undertake site/field work as required.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
Desirable:
Experience in consultancy or a related field (e.g. academia).
Expertise in managing noise assessments and engaging with stakeholders.
Membership in relevant professional institutions, such as the Institute of Acoustics.
A postgraduate degree in a science or engineering-based discipline or relevant chartership.
Full UK driving license (travel may be required).
Day-to-Day
Your typical day may include:
Collaborating with colleagues to design and execute acoustic assessments for infrastructure projects.
Analyzing data and preparing technical reports to support planning applications.
Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to address project needs and challenges.
Mentoring junior team members and contributing to their professional development.
Participating in team meetings to share insights and develop innovative solutions.
Conducting site visits and fieldwork to gather data and ensure project compliance.
