📍 Location: Bromsgrove / Redditch
🕒 Hours: 37 per week
💷 Rate: £23.59 PAYE / £29.69 Umbrella

About the Opportunity
Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Surveyor to join their Property Services Team. You will play a key role in ensuring a diverse property portfolio is safe, compliant, and well-maintained - covering operational service buildings, commercial units, leisure facilities, industrial sites, and heritage assets.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Surveyor who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and enjoys leading on technical, project-based, and maintenance-focused work across multiple building types.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Manage reactive, cyclical, and planned maintenance across council properties
✔ Lead refurbishment and improvement projects (including commercial & industrial premises)
✔ Conduct building condition surveys and produce high-quality technical reports
✔ Provide expert professional advice to support strategic asset management
✔ Prepare Schedule of Condition and dilapidation reports
✔ Set up contracts, produce JCT documents, and manage contractor performance
✔ Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety standards, and council policies
✔ Work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and internal teams
✔ Use AutoCAD to produce or amend DWG drawings
About You
You will be a strong match for this role if you have:
🔹 Minimum 5 years' experience in Building Surveying (public sector desirable)
🔹 Experience working with a varied portfolio - commercial, industrial, leisure, and heritage buildings
🔹 Strong technical knowledge in maintenance, construction, and refurbishment
🔹 Proficiency with AutoCAD and DWG drawings
🔹 Excellent project and contract management skills
🔹 Ability to produce detailed reports and professional documentation
🔹 A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong communication skills
🔹 Relevant qualification in Building Surveying or related field
