Senior Buyer – Derbyshire
Location: Hilton, Derbyshire | Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 + package
I’m working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of plant and material procurement across their projects.
This is a key role within the commercial team, reporting to the Commercial Director, where you’ll be leading supplier negotiations, managing procurement schedules, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors from tender through to delivery
Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including framework agreements and performance reviews
Supporting estimators with pricing and tender submissions
Driving efficiencies and improvements across procurement processes
Mentoring and supporting an Assistant Buyer
Delivering commercial value through negotiation, cost control and supply chain strategy
What we’re looking for:
Strong background as a Buyer / Senior Buyer in construction or civils
Negotiation and supplier management expertise
Commercially sharp with excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
Leadership skills to guide junior staff

Basic salary £48,000 – £60,000
