Job Description
Senior Civil Engineer / Site Manager - High Voltage Substation - Civil Engineering – Construction - 24 month Contract / Freelance position
We are currently supporting a leading Irish renewable energy developer on a long-term contract opportunity delivering a major substation connected by underground cable and fitted with multiple transformers and associated switchgear.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of civil works associated with a high voltage substation
* Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including ESB / EirGrid, EPC contractors, and OEMs
* Develop and review civil design packages and ensure alignment with project requirements
* Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and civil design documentation
* Oversee construction activities on-site to ensure quality, safety, and programme adherence
* Work closely with the Owner’s Engineer team to monitor contractor performance and compliance
* Manage interfaces between civil, structural, and electrical teams across project phases
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree (or Equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related field
* Minimum 5 years experience delivering high-voltage substations, civil infrastructure or comparable major utility-scale projects
* Competent in producing technical designs, layouts, and drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
* Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
* Track record of delivering reports and technical documentation to project teams and senior leadership
Contract Details:
* Contract Type: Freelance/Contract
* Duration: 24 month initial contract
* Start Date: Ideally October but can be flexible
