Job Description
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Senior Construction Manager on a Permanent Basis, based across the UK.
Role Summary
As a Senior Construction Manager, you will take overall leadership of substation construction projects across the UK, from mobilisation to energisation. You will be accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance on site — leading multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors to deliver major EPC projects to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide overall leadership and governance for multiple concurrent substation construction projects.
* Ensure all works are delivered safely, to specification, on time, and within budget.
* Drive excellence in HSE performance and compliance with UK CDM regulations.
* Oversee site mobilisation, resourcing, and subcontractor management across regions.
* Support tendering and project planning with constructability input and execution strategy.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
* Monitor project KPIs, progress, and risk, implementing mitigation strategies proactively.
* Lead and develop Construction Managers and site teams to enhance delivery capability.
Requirements
* Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Civil, or Construction Engineering.
* Significant experience (12+ years) managing large, complex EPC or substation construction portfolios.
* Proven ability to lead multiple project teams simultaneously across different locations.
* Deep understanding of UK construction regulations, CDM, and substation delivery
* Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
* CSCS/SMSTS certification and full UK driving licence required.
