Senior Contracts Manager

Kinetic Recruitment are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Contracts Manager to head up our client's Contracts Department.
This position, based in South Tyneside and reporting directly to the General Manager, plays a key role in overseeing major projects. The role will focus on planning, coordinating, and delivering complex programmes while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and value for money.
The successful candidate will manage task allocation within the team, work closely with internal functions, contractors, OEMs, and representatives, and ensure projects are completed to the highest standard.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage the project team to ensure successful delivery of technical packages from initiation to closeout.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee upgrade programmes, producing schedules and work packages for contractors, and staff.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to guarantee compliance with engineering and regulatory requirements.
Work with internal teams, external partners, and OEMs to establish scope, budgets, and resource needs.
Deliver projects through all phases-request, execution, and completion-on time and within budget.
Provide effective technical solutions, including system upgrades and modifications.
Manage cost control, resource forecasting, and change processes, while driving continuous improvement.
Ensure accurate project documentation and deliver comprehensive reporting.
Represent the company at client meetings as lead contact, supported by the wider team.
Contribute to invoicing activities and support commercial negotiations with contractors, OEMs etc.
Guarantee adherence to health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all project activities.
Track team performance using KPIs and provide monthly updates to the General Manager.
Keep up to date with industry standards and classification rules.
Undertake additional technical or operational responsibilities when required.
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven track record in project or contract management, ideally within defence, marine, or naval engineering environments.
HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent discipline).
Strong background in managing cross-functional teams and multiple technical workstreams.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels.
Professional project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP).
Confident user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
