Job Description

Do you take pride in building control systems from the ground up, not just tweaking someone else’s code? If you’ve got solid experience programming from scratch in Siemens TIA Portal and you enjoy being trusted to deliver, this could be right up your street. This role isn’t for someone who wants to hide behind a desk or be given a neat spec to follow. You’ll be handed full responsibility for your own projects, from the first meeting with the customer, through to spec writing, programming, commissioning and handover. You’ll effectively become the face of the project and be trusted to see it through without being micromanaged. Most of the work is in logistics and airport environments, so if you don’t have hands on experience with tracking systems, conveyors or baggage/material handling, this probably isn’t the right role for you. The engineering work here is both demanding and rewarding. You’ll be working in Siemens TIA Portal and expected to build software from scratch (no libraries or off the shelf stuff here). There’s HMI work involved too, plus documentation, site commissioning and client support after install. You’ll be working from home around 70% of the time, and the rest will be on site across the UK. The team is small, positive, and led by engineers who know what it’s like to be in your shoes. There’s no corporate fluff or red tape. Just a bunch of people doing interesting work, treating each other like adults and supporting one another when needed. Flexibility and balance are a big part of the culture here, so if you’ve had to stay late on site one day, you won’t be hassled for logging on at 9.01 the next. Salary wise, it’s between £60–65k for someone confident running full project lifecycles. If you’re technically strong but not quite at that end to end level yet, then it’ll fall closer to £55–60k. There is also private medical insurance, flexible hours, a home setup when not commissioning and half day Fridays when working from home. If this sounds like something you’d like to explore further, drop me a message or give me a call, happy to chat through it in more detail and answer any questions you’ve got
