Senior Design Engineer Opportunity - Structural Steelwork

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Design Engineer on behalf of a well-established and highly respected structural steel specialist based in South Yorkshire.

Our client has built a strong reputation within the industry, delivering a wide range of structural steelwork projects across the UK and Europe - from straightforward building frames to complex large-scale structures.

The Role

As Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and delivering safe, efficient, and compliant structural engineering solutions that meet project objectives, client requirements, and industry regulations.

Working closely with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Produce structural engineering designs and calculations for steelwork projects
Develop design solutions using industry-standard software
Analyse load paths, stresses, and structural behaviour
Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, legal requirements, and environmental directives
Assist with tender submissions and technical documentation
Provide project progress updates to clients and senior management
Maintain and develop technical knowledge through ongoing professional development
Support wider team objectives and successful project deliverySkills & Experience Required

Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering principles
Extensive experience within a structural design engineering role
Experience in connection design would be advantageous
Proficiency with software such as:
Tekla Structural Designer (Fastrak Building Designer)
Fastrak Portal Frame
Masterframe
STAAD PRO
Masterseries Connections
Excellent design calculation capability
