About the Role:
One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Senior Development Officer (Planning) to support its Growth & Regeneration directorate. This key role involves working across Planning Policy, Development Management, and Enforcement to deliver high-quality planning services.
You’ll lead and support a range of projects, from managing complex planning applications and enforcement cases to developing policy documents and supporting the Local Plan process.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage projects within Planning Policy and Development Management
*
Prepare reports, appeal statements, and present at Planning Committees
*
Undertake site inspections and investigations into breaches of planning control
*
Support policy development and consultation exercises
*
Provide expert planning advice to colleagues, applicants, and the public
*
Represent the Council at hearings and inquiries
About You:
*
Degree in Town/Urban Planning or a related discipline
*
Eligible for or a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
*
Strong understanding of UK planning legislation and policy frameworks
*
Proven experience handling a range of planning applications or policy projects
*
Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills
*
Ability to travel independently across the local area
