Job Description
Senior District Heating Designer – Major UK Heat Network Projects
We’re working with a leading district energy contractor, well recognised for delivering full-scale district heating systems across the UK and Ireland. They design, supply, and install buried networks, energy centres, and large public & residential connections.
With big projects upcoming, they’re now seeking a Senior District Heating Designer to take ownership of multiple buried heat network designs. This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact role, leading several projects concurrently, working with a team of junior designers beneath you, and being a go-to expert for complex DH system design.
Key Responsibilities – Senior District Heating Designer
* Lead the design of district heating (DH) systems including underground network / buried pipework, energy centre connections, and specifying manufacturer specs.
* Perform stress and thermal calculations to ensure design reliability across multiple concurrent projects.
* Oversee design documentation, including CAD drawings, specification sheets, and BISRA or equivalent standards in a predominantly remote environment.
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders, developers, and internal teams to interpret requirements, present designs and coordinate clarifications.
* Mentor, manage and coordinate junior designers assisting on parts of the design, reviewing their work, ensuring quality and consistency.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be someone who already has solid experience in district heating design, including networks, buried distribution, and energy centres, ideally having delivered several complex DH projects. You should have strong skills in stress & thermal calculations and a firm understanding of buried networks design. You need to be confident presenting to clients and stakeholders as well as overseeing less experienced engineers to ensure consistent high standards across designs.
Package:
* Salary: Up to £90K (DOE)
* Hybrid working: Working from home with occasional office meetings
