Senior EC&I Engineer – Defence Sector (Cranes & Lifting Systems) Location: Sheffield | Full-time
SCX is a UK-based engineering firm delivering precision mechanical handling systems across Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear, and Infrastructure. We’re growing—and looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-integrity control systems for complex, safety-critical projects.
🔧 What You’ll Do
*
Lead EC&I system design from concept to commissioning
*
Define architectures, specify equipment, and develop PLC/HMI software
*
Produce and review technical documentation (schematics, FDS, cable schedules, etc.)
*
Oversee integration, FAT/SAT, and supplier coordination
*
Collaborate across engineering disciplines and support client engagement
*
Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement
🎯 What You’ll Bring
*
Degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering
*
Strong experience in EC&I design for regulated environments
*
Proficiency in Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider platforms
*
Skilled in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN
*
Knowledge of relevant standards (BS EN 60204, BS 7671, etc.)
*
Full UK driving licence (travel required)
⭐ Desirable
*
Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it)
*
Experience in Defence, Nuclear, or Aerospace
*
Background in crane systems or large-scale machinery
*
