The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer with a strong focus on Electrical engineering. This is a hybrid position based in Knutsford, offered on an outside IR35 contract basis.
The EC&I Engineer will take responsibility for producing high-quality design deliverables, technical specifications, and supporting construction and commissioning activities.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Produce specifications and scopes of work for installation contractors and equipment suppliers.
Deliver design work packages, including:
Control Architecture Diagrams
Instrument Loop Diagrams
Motor Schematics
Cable Block Diagrams
Cable Routing/Layouts
Instrument and Electrical Schedules
Lighting Specifications and Layouts
MCC Design Specifications and MCC/Control Room Layouts
Provide input to design reviews and risk assessments.
Develop project documentation, including control philosophies, cause & effect matrices, alarm lists, inspection and test plans.
Support onsite construction and commissioning activities as required.
Ensure deliverables are compliant with required standards, quality, and procedures.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain strong, positive working relationships.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Degree level (or minimum HNC/HND) in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline.
Must have and be able to maintain SC clearance.
Proven experience in regulated or safety-critical environments.
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens/Allen Bradley) and communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus).
Strong knowledge of electrical design standards (BS 7671 / IEC 60364 / BS EN 61439).
Experience with LV distribution, control systems, networks and architecture.
Knowledge of 3Ph motors, drives and MCC panels.
Awareness of HV design beneficial.
Competence in 2D AutoCAD.
Knowledge of DSEAR/ATEX and hazardous area design.
Experience in safety systems design and validation (BS EN 61508 / BS EN 61511).
Familiarity with AMTECH or ETAP engineering and design software beneficial.
Ability to produce accurate calculations, cost estimates and technical files.
Collaborative approach, able to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong IT skills – Office 365 including OneDrive, SharePoint, Word and Excel.
Eligible to live and work in the UK.
Full UK/EEC driving licence.
