Senior Ecologist London £32,000-£42,000 Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team based in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to impactful environmental projects, lead ecological assessments, and provide expert advice to a diverse range of clients. Responsibilities As a Senior Ecologist, your key responsibilities will include: Leading and managing ecological surveys, assessments, and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. Providing expert ecological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. Designing and implementing mitigation strategies to address ecological impacts. Managing and mentoring junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development. Liaising with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to secure necessary consents and approvals. Supporting business development activities, including preparing proposals and contributing to tenders. Staying up-to-date with industry trends, legislation, and emerging ecological practices. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in ecological consultancy or a similar field. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM). Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological survey methodologies. Proven experience in leading ecological assessments and delivering high-quality reports. Excellent project management and organisational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders. A full UK driving licence. Day-to-Day Your typical day as a Senior Ecologist may include: Conducting site visits to perform ecological surveys and assessments. Preparing detailed ecological reports and recommendations for clients. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into project designs. Mentoring junior ecologists and reviewing their work to ensure quality and accuracy. Attending client meetings and providing expert advice on ecological matters. Keeping abreast of new developments in ecology and applying them to ongoing projects.
