ALink Recruitment are working with an engineering consultancy that are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical support to a rail consultancy on an ad hoc basis.
This is not a full-time requirement at present and would suit an experienced engineer who is currently working elsewhere but has capacity to take on additional work.
The requirement is for someone with strong electrical engineering knowledge who can act as a senior technical point of contact, providing advice, reviewing and checking designs, answering technical queries and supporting discussions with clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and check electrical designs and engineering deliverables.
* Provide senior-level technical advice and guidance.
* Respond to technical queries and help resolve unusual or complex electrical engineering issues.
* Review designs for compliance with relevant TfL, rail and electrical engineering standards.
* Provide input on LV distribution, lighting and controls, cable management, earthing & bonding and associated electrical systems.
* Liaise directly with clients and confidently explain or defend technical decisions.
* Provide pragmatic solutions where engineering or design issues arise.
* Support projects as required, with workload varying depending on client and project demands.
Experience Required
* Strong background in electrical engineering within the UK rail industry.
* Extensive TfL experience and knowledge.
* Strong understanding of TfL engineering standards, specifications and processes, including TfL Pathway.
* Ability to independently review, interrogate and challenge electrical designs.
* Broad technical knowledge across rail/building-services electrical systems.
* Comfortable dealing directly with clients and answering technical queries.
* Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ideally Chartered or working at an equivalent senior/technical authority level.
