Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum

A respected building services and environmental design consultancy in central London is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their established electrical team.
This is a great opportunity for a competent and motivated electrical engineer to take the next step in responsibility, leading design packages on a variety of design-led, sustainability-focused projects. Working closely with both internal teams and external consultants, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical solutions from concept through to completion.
You will be involved in developing designs, supporting junior team members, attending meetings and site visits, and ensuring that the electrical services integrate effectively within the overall building design.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the electrical design on allocated projects, coordinating with internal and external teams
Developing concept designs, load calculations, equipment sizing and lighting layouts
Preparing reports, drawings, specifications and schedules
Liaising with architects, contractors, manufacturers and utility providers
Ensuring compliance with current regulations, standards and guidelines (including IET and CIBSE)
Carrying out site inspections and supporting design delivery during construction
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and reviewing delegated work
Contributing to knowledge sharing and collaborative working within the team
Attending design meetings and representing the electrical discipline in coordination discussions
Essential requirements:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in electrical building services design
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or similar
Working knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations and relevant building regulations
Proficient in AutoCAD and electrical calculation tools
Experience using or exposure to Revit and BIM processes
Good understanding of sustainable design principles
Clear communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with clients and consultants
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Working towards chartership with IET or CIBSE
Desirable:
Experience in acting as lead electrical engineer on smaller projects
Familiarity with dynamic simulation tools and energy performance analysis
Site experience and a good understanding of construction processes
