About the Role
My client is a well-established building services provider operating across high-security and infrastructure environments, including government sites. Known for delivering high-quality electrical installation projects, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join their team and lead the pricing and tendering of electrical works ranging from £100k to £2m.
This is a strategic role focused on installation-only projects (not maintenance or reactive works), requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage complex tenders from concept to submission.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the estimating process for electrical installation projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and commercial viability.
Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce detailed take-offs and scope of works.
Prepare and submit competitive tenders, including risk analysis, method statements, and contractor proposals.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure all elements are accounted for.
Maintain and update estimating systems, databases, and workload planners.
Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to support cost variations and project delivery.
Attend site surveys and client meetings to gather project requirements and provide technical input.
Ensure all estimates comply with relevant electrical regulations (e.g. BS7671) and health & safety standards.
Provide monthly reporting on estimating activity and bid outcomes to senior leadership.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth handover from estimating to delivery.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in electrical estimating, ideally within MOD, defence, or high-security environments.
Strong understanding of electrical installation regulations and compliance standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and digital take-off tools.
Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Commercially astute with a focus on profitability and risk mitigation.
Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver robust pricing strategies.
Desirable Qualifications
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
City & Guilds or equivalent electrical qualifications
Experience with MOD tendering processes or government frameworks
Familiarity with estimating platforms such as Countfire, Ensign, or similar
Additional Info
This role reports into the senior leadership team and may involve occasional travel for site surveys or client meetings. While primarily office-based, flexibility is required depending on project needs.
