We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to join a Tier 1 Principal Contractor delivering a major life science / commercial scheme in Oxford.
This is a technically demanding project involving a concrete frame structure and a substantial double-basement, offering an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in complex structural and substructure works.
The Role
As Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the engineering delivery of the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Team, Design Team and specialist subcontractors.
A significant element of the role will involve the demolition, enabling and construction works associated with the double basement, followed by the delivery of the concrete frame and associated structural works.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage engineering activities across the project.
Oversee setting out, surveying and dimensional control.
Manage engineering interfaces between the permanent works, temporary works and specialist subcontractors.
Provide technical support throughout the demolition, excavation and basement construction phases.
Coordinate the delivery of the double-basement structure, including complex substructure and concrete works.
Work closely with the design team to resolve technical queries and ensure construction information is delivered efficiently.
Review drawings, specifications and design information, identifying potential issues before they impact programme.
Ensure works are delivered in accordance with the project specification, quality requirements and relevant standards.
Support the planning and sequencing of the concrete frame.
Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
Mentor and support junior engineers within the project team.
About You
We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a strong technical background in major building projects, ideally with experience on complex concrete frame schemes.
You should have demonstrable experience of:
Concrete frame construction
Deep basement construction, ideally double-basement projects
Demolition and enabling works
Complex substructure and excavation packages
Temporary works and structural interfaces
Setting out and surveying
Working within a Tier 1/main contractor environment
Managing subcontractors and engineering interfaces
Working collaboratively with design teams and project stakeholdersExperience delivering large-scale commercial, life sciences, healthcare or technically complex buildings would be highly advantageous.
