Purpose of the Role
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing the technical and engineering aspects of construction works onsite, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with project documentation, specifications, and building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the site's day-to-day technical and engineering requirements, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and participation in design team workshops.
Implement quality control measures aligned with the BCAR (Building Control Amendment Regulations) plan.
Liaise effectively with consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, and quantity surveyors throughout project phases.
Support the Project Manager/Contracts Manager to ensure delivery is on programme, on budget, and to a high standard.
Identify gaps or discrepancies in information, collaborate with relevant teams to develop solutions, and implement changes.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams and subcontractors.
Candidate Requirements
Degree in Engineering or a related field.
Broad knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
Competence in site surveying, setting out, levels, and temporary works coordination.
Strong analytical, numerical, and report writing skills.
Capable of strategic planning aligned to project budgets and schedules.
Ability to make confident decisions and escalate where necessary.
Proficient in MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools, and general IT literacy.
