My client are a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor. With over 50 years of successful project delivery across infrastructure, groundworks, and enabling works they are now looking to hire a senior engineer who is looking to step into a project manager role.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious Senior Engineer who is ready to take the next step into Project Management. Working along a highly experienced project manager and reporting into the contracts manager.
This is a rare opportunity to join a structured pathway with one of the most respected civil engineering teams in the UK. Working closely with our senior contracts team, you’ll take on increasing project responsibility, managing your own schemes with full support.
Perfect for:
* A Senior Engineer with 8–10+ years of experience in groundworks & civils
* Someone confident in site management, client liaison & engineering oversight
* A professional seeking to step into a leadership role in project management
Key Responsibilities
* Assist and shadow Senior Project Managers in running live sites across Kent
*
Take responsibility for engineering setups: surveys, setting out, QA, and technical oversight
*
Gradually take over cost, programme and resourcing tasks on live jobs
*
Build skills in subcontractor management, reporting, and commercial control
*
Support client interface meetings and weekly progress reviews
*
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures
Candidate Profile
* Solid background in civil engineering or groundworks (ideally on £10m+ projects)
*
Experienced with Leica/GPS instruments, QA procedures, ITPs, and setting out
*
Confident communicator, able to manage subcontractors and junior engineers
*
Keen interest in leadership, team development, and commercial awareness
*
Qualifications: Degree/HND in Civil Engineering (or similar), CSCS, First Aid, SSSTS/SMSTSBefore You Apply
