Job Description
Senior Estimator – Main Contractor – Cardiff
We are working with a leading international construction company seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their growing team in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a key role within a well-established main contractor, working on exciting projects across South Wales and the South West.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you’ll take the lead on tenders and bids for large-scale construction projects valued up to £50 million. You’ll manage the full estimating process, preparing accurate and competitive costs, coordinating with design, commercial and delivery teams, and presenting final submissions to senior management.
This is a pivotal role within the pre-construction team, offering real scope for progression into a Managing Estimator position as the regional office continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
*
Lead the estimating process on major projects up to £50m
*
Prepare accurate cost plans, tender submissions and value engineering proposals
*
Liaise with clients, supply chain partners and internal teams
*
Oversee junior estimators and provide mentoring/support
*
Ensure all bids are compliant, competitive and aligned with company strategy
Experience Required
*
Proven background as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a main contractor
*
Strong technical and commercial understanding of construction processes
*
Experience across a range of sectors – commercial, industrial, education, or mixed-use projects
*
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
*
Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying preferred
