Job Description

We are working with an established construction contractor specialising in commercial refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects across London and the surrounding areas.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

You will work closely with the commercial, pre-construction and operational teams, managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  * Take ownership of the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission.

  * Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to fully understand project requirements.

  * Prepare accurate and competitive estimates across a range of construction and refurbishment projects.

  * Carry out detailed quantity take-offs, measurements and pricing.

  * Prepare bills of quantities, preliminaries and detailed tender breakdowns.

  * Identify suitable subcontractors and suppliers and manage the quotation process.

  * Review, compare and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

  * Develop and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.

  * Identify commercial risks, exclusions and opportunities within tender packages.

  * Work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to develop buildable and commercially viable solutions.

  * Attend site visits, tender meetings and client meetings where required.

  * Assist with value engineering and alternative construction proposals.

  * Prepare tender adjudications and present estimates to senior management.

  * Ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.

  * Support the handover of successful tenders to the commercial and project teams.

  * Assist with developing estimating procedures and best practice across the business.

About You

  * Proven experience working as an Estimator / Senior Estimator within the construction industry.

  * Strong experience across commercial refurbishment, fit-out or main contracting.

  * Excellent understanding of construction methods, sequencing and buildability.

  * Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

  * Experienced in producing detailed estimates and undertaking accurate take-offs.

  * Confident managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries from start to finish.

  * Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  * Able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.

  * Confident presenting estimates and tender strategies to senior management
