Senior Estimator – EV Infrastructure (Civils) | Hybrid | £60,000 – £75,000 + Car + Bonus
Our client, a fast-growing infrastructure contractor that’s playing a major role in the delivery of EV charging networks across the UK is recruiting for a Senior Estimator. As they expand their EV division, they’re looking to appoint an experienced Estimator with a strong civils background to support major capital project tenders in this high-growth sector. This role offers hybrid working, with travel to project offices as required. This position is in the North West of England.
The Role:
As Estimator, you’ll be responsible for supporting the tendering and pre-construction phase of key EV projects. Working closely with technical, commercial and operational colleagues, your role will focus on accurate pricing of civils packages, evaluating risk, and producing high-quality tender submissions. We are looking for someone who can assist in the preparation of tender submission and deliver post tender presentations to the client.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assessing new bid opportunities and supporting bid/no-bid reviews
* Preparing technical and commercial tender responses from specifications and drawings
* Determining Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and building up rates from first principles
* Checking accuracy and completeness of client tender documents
* Supporting post-tender presentations and client discussions
* Identifying project risks and providing recommendations for mitigation
* Ensuring alignment with DNO/National Grid standards
* Assisting with continuous improvement and team development across the estimating function
Requirements to be met:
* Strong civils estimating background with capital project experience (essential)
* Understanding of electrical infrastructure (EV, DNO, substation or related fields)
* Good commercial awareness and experience building detailed cost estimates
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and tender packages
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Strong commercial acumen – knowledge of forms of contract (NEC, ICE & JCT)
* Experience working to tight deadlines and managing multiple bids simultaneously
* Knowledge of how electrical infrastructure is constructed, operated and maintained with good understanding of National grid and DNO Standards
