Job Description

Senior Field Telecoms Engineer (284dm) – London-Heathrow - £42,000-£45,000 DOE Our client, a successful multinational corporation, is looking for a front of house and security officer for their head office, in Central London by St James Park. The Senior Field Engineer will be part of a team consisting of the Principal, System & Service Engineers. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY. The team is responsible for: • Remedial Maintenance - Responding to Customer reported incidents (via the NOC) within an SLA framework, ensuring all incidents are resolved or service restored within SLA • Ensuring Customers requests (Moves, Adds, Changes or Terminations) are delivered within expected timeframes • Preventative Maintenance – Completing Customer Service Visits to a planned schedule including customer equipment audits, equipment triage, cosmetic repairs & equipment programming • Vehicle Installations – Installation of communication equipment into motorized & non-motorised vehicles • Radio signal strength coverage testing • Project delivery – Assist with System Engineering tasks as required to agreed timescale and standard. The technology scope is predominantly Radio based but also split between fibre and cellular based equipment with additional service scope including Unified Comms, Network, Wireless and M2M related technologies that form part of shared platforms or dedicated solutions for customers. This role will work closely with other Operational functions to ensure that multi-technology solutions are delivered and supported seamlessly for our customers. Key Responsibilities • Ensure that the overall performance of Service meets customer service level requirements & service performance targets • Acting as team lead at Heathrow being the first escalation point • Reporting where required is completed accurately and on time • To plan and deliver large scale service project requirements • Ensure all service/incident tickets raised on Company ticketing system are attended and completed in a timely manner against our SLA’s • To complete vehicle radio related work as requested. This is to include the installation, decommission and service response to all Company customers • To deliver all Moves Additions and Changes (MACs) • To complete preventative maintenance visits as requested. This is to include the programming and refurbishment of Company assets at customer sites to a satisfactory standard and customer requirement • Carrying out visual and functional inspections, RF and power tests, performing remedial adjustments and fixes either non-service affecting or under outage conditions • Assists Field Engineers on site and remotely in the resolution of issues and fault-finding. • To assist in the delivery of Engineering projects where required and complete in agreed timescales and to industry standards • Understand that at times the delivery of Engineering projects are required out of hours so there is the need to be flexible in the working hours required to ensure efficient delivery • Ensure all requested project activity is documented as per requirements • Maintaining customer satisfaction as per set targets and objectives • Ensuring HR procedures are followed • Ensure all functions within Service operate in compliance with all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) & legal • Ensure all activities are completed in compliance with Company BMS (Business Management System) To comply with all Company working practices as per the Operator's Manual • Ensure all timesheets are completed and submitted in timely manner • Ensure all expenses are completed and submitted in a timely manner • Work with peers to ensure optimal delivery • Be part of a constant learning and development culture in a fast-changing technical environment • To promote all departments and products within the Company • Ensure company vehicles are kept to an appropriate level of cleanliness to promote the standard of the Company when in the customer environment • Complete all training as required, including customer specific site requirements to gain required access • Always uphold the company image Key Qualifications and Experience. • Strong understanding of RF engineering, including modulation techniques, RF propagation, antennas, and filtering. • Experience with digital and analog radio systems (e.g., DMR, TETRA, P25, LTE/5G MCX, SDR). • Understanding of radio base station architectures, including repeaters, gateways, controllers, and network backhaul. • Experience working with public safety, commercial, or private radio networks (DMR Tier II/III, TETRA, P25, LTE/5G MCX). • Ability to analyse and diagnose issues relating to coverage, interference, handover, and system capacity. • Familiarity with base station transmit/receive chains, power amplifiers, duplexers, combiners, and tower-mounted equipment. • Understanding of IP networking concepts used in modern radio infrastructure (VLANs, QoS, routing, firewalls). • When required (not weekly) be available to travel and stay away from home for several nights/week • Experience with remote monitoring and diagnostics using NMS (Network Management Systems). • Extensive knowledge in Programming handheld & mobile devices including building of the code plugs • Strong documentation skills (schematics, test reports, design notes). • Experience using RF test equipment (spectrum analysers, network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators). • Experience in vehicle installations • Knowledge in fibre connected systems • Good communication skills for reporting progress and explaining technical issues. • Experience in working on DMR radio systems and subsequent end user devices with common main manufacturer equipment – Hytera / TAIT / Simoco / Motorola • Excellent client facing skills with very strong verbal & written communication • Able to work under own initiative and within a team environment • Clean ‘manual’ driving license • Experience of working under pressurised situations in delivering service & response activities where strict SLAs are to be met • Available 5-year employment/gap history to enable gaining an airside pass • SC Cleared is advantageous • Knowledge of Wi-Fi installation and maintenance is advantageous • Awareness of health & safety requirements for radio sites (RF exposure, working at heights, electrical safety). • Understanding of spectrum licensing, regulatory limits, and compliance requirements for high-power transmitters.
