Job Description

Senior Geotechnical Engineer Birmingham 37.5 per week Permanent - £45k-£55k dependant on experience Job Description: Our client is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical team. The selected candidate will hold a senior position within the team and will be responsible for the design of geotechnical packages throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and cost evaluations to the finalisation and verification of formal design packages for retaining solutions. Responsibilities: The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position involves interpreting ground investigation and client drawings to produce comprehensive design reports. The candidate will be required to use modelling software to validate proposed solutions and work collaboratively with other members of the technical team to determine initial solutions and create the necessary CAD details. The successful candidate must assess the commercial impact of chosen designs and provide geotechnical advice to both the team and clients. This role also involves liaising with clients to investigate solutions and coordinating geotechnical testing requirements on site. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer may also visit the site to confirm ground models and ensure quality assurance. In addition, the role includes providing in-house training to the team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical and analytical skills, demonstrate professionalism and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Key Skills and Experience The ideal candidate for the Senior Geotechnical Engineer position will have a degree in Geology or Civil Engineering (BEng, BSc, or equivalent) and an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology. The candidate must be chartered with a relevant professional body or nearing chartership status. The candidate should have more than five years of relevant experience in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering. The candidate should possess proficiency in computer software such as Geo5 and AutoCAD. The successful candidate must have practical knowledge of geotechnical properties, ground investigation, and geotechnical report writing. They must have a sound understanding of Eurocode/British standard compliant design, particularly regarding retaining walls.
