NJC scale 6 – £25,183 actual salary discussed (negotiable)
Zest Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in West London for a Senior Hearing Impaired (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time position supporting students aged 11 to 18.
We are specifically looking for candidates who hold British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above, to work closely with students who are hearing impaired, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream setting. Senior responsibilities to be discussed and agreed upon successful interview in relation to the successful candidates strengths.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with hearing impairments
*
Use BSL to facilitate effective communication and understanding
*
Collaborate with teaching staff and the school’s SEN department to adapt resources and support strategies
*
Encourage student confidence, participation, and independence across all subjects
*
Assist in tracking and reporting student progress
Candidate Requirements:
* British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above
*
Previous experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments preferred
*
A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to support learning and wellbeing
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
*
A genuine passion for inclusive education

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
