We are seeking a committed and experienced Senior Housing Officer to join a Housing Services team within a forward-thinking local authority in Devon. This is a vital role responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council's residential housing stock, primarily a block of 9 self-contained flats used for emergency accommodation.
You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality housing management and tenancy support services, ensuring safe, compliant, and well-maintained homes for those experiencing homelessness. Working closely with the housing advice team, you'll support residents to stabilise their lives and move on to long-term, sustainable accommodation.
Key responsibilities include:
·Managing tenancy sign-ups, terminations, rent accounts and low-level arrears.
·Conducting property inspections, fire safety and compliance checks.
·Liaising with contractors for responsive repairs and maintenance.
·Supporting tenants with tailored support plans and signposting to relevant services.
Who we're looking for:
You will be an empathetic and resilient housing professional with a strong background in tenancy and property management, ideally within temporary or social housing. You'll have sound knowledge of housing legislation, safeguarding, and compliance, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Essential requirements:
·Experience working with vulnerable or homeless households.
·Confidence in managing tenancies independently.
·Strong IT skills and accurate record-keeping.
·Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
