Job Description

As Senior HSE Advisor, you will be the driving force behind health, safety, and environmental compliance across our client’s Hebburn HQ, regional depots, and off-site third-party locations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a Senior HSE Advisor who is ready to lead, influence, and make a tangible difference.

Key responsibilities include:

  * Developing, reviewing, and updating HSE policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance

  * Implementing HSE policies across all departments and sites, providing expert guidance and support

  * Line managing the HSE Advisor, including performance reviews, goal-setting, and absence management

  * Supporting COSHH compliance across operational departments

  * Conducting formal safety inspections, internal audits, and occupational hygiene monitoring

  * Leading investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions

  * Ensuring all activities are appropriately risk assessed with agreed safe systems of work

  * Supporting HR in delivering health and safety inductions, manual handling, and DSE training

  * Leading health and safety committees, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and cross-functional working groups

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  * Full UK driving licence

  * 5+ years’ experience in a similar Senior HSE Advisor or equivalent position

  * Recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH

  * Recognised environmental qualification (NEBOSH Environmental or IEMA Certificate)

  * Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA

  * Proven background in manufacturing or construction environments

  * Strong communication skills with the ability to positively influence at all levels

Preferred:

  * Experience working to ISO 45001 or other internationally recognised standards

  * DSE assessor and/or manual handling trainer qualification (or willingness to complete training)
