Job Description

Senior Drainage Engineer 
Location: Bristol (with options in Liverpool or Birmingham) 
Rate: £45-£50 per hour 
Contract: Rolling 3-month contract

If you're a drainage engineer who enjoys tackling complex surface water challenges on major infrastructure schemes - this is a role where you can genuinely add value from day one. 
We are working with a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to support a portfolio of large-scale civil projects. This contract role focuses on surface water and temporary drainage design, offering exposure to technically interesting work beyond standard pipe systems. 
 
The Role 
You'll play a key role in delivering drainage solutions across a range of live projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are robust, practical, and compliant. 
Key duties include: 
·Producing surface water drainage designs for major civil and infrastructure schemes 
·Supporting temporary works and interim design solutions 
·Using InfoDrainage and Civil 3D to develop and refine designs 
·Undertaking site assessments and resolving technical challenges 
·Designing drainage features including basins, ditches, pumping systems, and treatment processes 
·Ensuring all work aligns with current standards and regulatory requirements 
·Preparing clear and accurate technical reports and supporting documentation 
 
About You 
To be considered, you should have: 
·Proven experience in drainage design, ideally within highways or major civils 
·Strong working knowledge of InfoDrainage and Civil 3D 
·Experience delivering surface water solutions beyond standard pipe networks 
·Ability to produce detailed technical documentation 
·Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities 
·Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively 
·A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification 
This role requires office attendance at least three days per week, with flexibility across Bristol, Liverpool, or Birmingham locations.
