Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Rate: £Competitive (Inside IR35)

Location: Reading area (100% on-site | Driver essential)

Duration: 6-month contract (High chance of extension)

Work Pattern: 9-day fortnight (Alternate Fridays off)

Clearance: Active UK DV Clearance required

The Role

Looking for a high-rate contract with a genuine work-life balance? We need a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to take ownership of a massive, 100% on-premise Big Data platform supporting UK Critical National Infrastructure. You'll join a solid team in Reading, keeping mission-critical systems patched, secure, and running smoothly.

What you'll be doing day-to-day:

System Health: Manage enterprise Linux (RHEL/Rocky Linux) and VMware vSphere environments.
Automation: Use Ansible and Bash to automate server builds and routine tasks.
Maintenance & Patching: Handle monthly OS/app updates, certificate renewals, and proactive disk/system checks.
Troubleshooting: Dig into complex network, OS, and storage performance issues.What you need to bring:

Clearance & Vetting: Active UK DV clearance.
Technical Setup: Strong Red Hat or Rocky Linux skills, VMware familiarity, and hands-on Ansible/Bash scripting.
