Overview:
The Flavour Network are supporting a rapidly growing, innovative food manufacturer based in Nottingham who are looking for a talented Senior Maintenance Engineer to help lead their production operation as they continue to scale.
The ideal candidate will be a true multiskilled tinkerer; a practical problem-solver with a full toolbox of tricks, capable of diagnosing faults on the fly while keeping calm under pressure. A reliable, SAS-standard engineer who gives operations, engineering teams, and management total confidence that every issue is in safe hands.
As Senior Maintenance Engineer you will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing a bespoke mix of production machinery, working with both mechanical and electrical systems, and contributing to automation and improvement projects across the site.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Maintenance Engineer

Lead on both reactive and planned maintenance across production machinery and services
*
Own and continuously improve the site’s PPM system, including scheduling, task setting, and optimisation
*
Act as the senior point of contact for complex mechanical and electrical fault-finding
*
Collaborate with Production, Technical, and QA teams to maintain uptime and operational efficiency
*
Work across conveyors, weighers, depositors, chillers, mixers, sealers, and automated packaging lines
*
Contribute to machinery upgrades, modifications, and automation improvement projects
*
Support, mentor, and develop junior engineers and apprentices
*
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and engineering best practice
*
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, breakdowns, and downtime trends
*
Participate in root cause analysis and lead continuous improvement initiatives
*
Time split: 60/40 or 50/50 mechanical to electrical depending on your skillset
Requirements for the Senior Maintenance Engineer
*
Proven experience in a senior, multiskilled maintenance engineering role within food manufacturing or FMCG is essential.
*
Strong mechanical engineering knowledge including fabrication, welding, and modification skills
*
Practical electrical experience including VFDs, sensor logic, relays, and 3-phase machinery
*
Confident with PLC-driven equipment — ideally Siemens/Omron — and control panel wiring
*
Experienced with weighing, depositing, and packing machinery in a high-care food environment
*
Comfortable diagnosing faults, creating or adapting parts, and integrating sensors, switches, and controls
*
Clear, calm communicator able to liaise effectively with operations, technical, and leadership teams
*
High standards for health & safety, compliance, and maintenance best practice
*
Hands-on, efficient, and driven and committed to making a difference and growing with the business long term
