Senior Maintenance Landscaper
Location: Various sites across the South of England (Main office based in Basingstoke, Hampshire)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (subject to probation)
Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Maintenance Landscaper to join our growing grounds maintenance team. This role involves leading small teams across multiple client sites, delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services and ensuring excellent standards are consistently achieved.
You will play a key role in supervising operatives, managing daily workloads, and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and carry out grounds maintenance visits across multiple sites.
Supervise and support junior operatives and small teams.
Plan daily workloads and organise travel between sites efficiently.
Carry out grass cutting, hedge cutting, pruning and strimming.
Undertake lawn care, seasonal treatments and general plant husbandry.
Perform weed control and border maintenance.
Identify plant health issues, pests and diseases.
Complete minor landscape repairs and replacements where required.
Maintain accurate digital reports with photographs.
Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives.
Maintain vehicles, tools, equipment and ensure they are kept in good condition.
Ensure all works meet company quality standards and client expectations.
Plant & Equipment
Operation of pedestrian and ride-on mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers, brush cutters, blowers and pole saws.
Use of battery and petrol-powered handheld tools.
Competent use of small plant (advantageous).
Ability to carry out handheld pesticide applications.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
Work in accordance with company Health & Safety policies.
Follow RAMS, PPE requirements and environmental procedures.
Carry out daily checks of tools, vehicles and equipment.
Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.
Promote safe working practices and environmental responsibility at all times.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 4 years' experience in grounds maintenance.
Ability to work independently and supervise small teams.
Strong knowledge of plant identification, pruning and lawn care.
PA1/PA6A pesticide application qualifications.
Competent in the use of grounds maintenance machinery.
Ability to produce accurate digital reports.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South of England.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Qualifications
CSCS card.
First Aid at Work.
NPTC/Lantra qualifications for mowers, hedge cutters and brush cutters.
Chainsaw qualification (NPTC).
CPCS/NPORS (mini excavator and dumper - advantageous).
Performance Expectations
Deliver high-quality maintenance services on schedule.
Maintain strong standards of workmanship and site presentation.
Ensure equipment is well maintained and safely operated.
Produce accurate and timely reporting.
Support and mentor junior team members.
