Senior Materials Controller | Manchester | £29.24 Per Hour (inside IR35) | Initial 6 Months Contract | immediate Start
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Materials Controller to join our Operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services to support fleet operations, with a strong focus on depot-based activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Materials Manager in ensuring material availability for depot operations and maintenance.
Coordinate the Material Controllers team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor and manage stock levels, adjusting order quantities based on demand and lead times.
Oversee procurement activities and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective purchasing.
Forecast material requirements using production plans and historical data.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives in material management and logistics.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
At least 3 years of experience in materials supervision, inventory control, or supply chain roles.
Strong EXCEL and Microsoft Outlook skills
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
CIPS qualification or working towards it.
Experience in an engineering or rail environment.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical components.
Experience with warranty claims and reverse logistics.
