The Role

 My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team near Worthing. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced design professional who enjoys combining hands-on mechanical design with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

 Working closely with Principal Engineers, you will play a key role in delivering engineering projects, supporting design quality, and helping to develop the capability of the wider engineering team.

 Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical components and assemblies, producing 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and supporting documentation
Generate design release packs and engineering calculations to support design decisions
Ensure designs meet company standards, engineering best practice and BS8888 requirements
Review and approve engineering drawings and technical documentation
Support project delivery by helping to achieve engineering milestones and programme objectives
Contribute to technical problem-solving, design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions
Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practice
Assist in maintaining engineering processes, standards and design data management systemsAbout You

Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role
Previous experience, including: Machining, Castings, Injection moulding and fuel systems.
Strong CAD and technical drawing experience
Knowledge of engineering calculations and design validation
Understanding of manufacturing and design-for-manufacture principles
Experience reviewing technical documentation and engineering designs
Strong communication, problem-solving and mentoring skills
A proactive, detail-focused approach with a commitment to engineering excellenceThis position would suit someone from an Automotive Engines, Marine Propulsion or Aerospace Engines Design team.
