Job Description

Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer Location: Berkshire Type: Permanent | Full-time Salary: Up to £60k About the Company This is a well-established independent building services consultancy with around 25 staff, delivering Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) design as their core expertise. Alongside MEP, the business also provides BREEAM assessments, EPC assessments, and sustainability advice, creating a balanced and forward-thinking consultancy. The practice works across a wide variety of sectors, with a particularly strong reputation in retail - delivering projects for some of the UK's best-known high-street and distribution brands. Project work spans refurbishments, new builds, feasibility studies, and contractor-led designs, covering retail, distribution centres, education, and more. The Role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in leading projects from concept through to delivery. You'll have the opportunity to work on flagship retail developments, large-scale distribution facilities, and education projects, supporting sustainable design strategies and mentoring junior engineers. Your responsibilities will include: Leading the mechanical design on a range of building services projects. Collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure successful delivery. Supporting the integration of sustainability principles, including BREEAM and EPC requirements. Producing technical reports, feasibility studies, and performance specifications. Guiding and mentoring junior engineers, contributing to team development. What We're Looking For Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent). Significant experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment. Chartered (CEng) or working towards Chartership. Familiarity with sustainability assessments (BREEAM, EPC) is an advantage. Proficient in mechanical design software and BIM tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP).
