Job Description
Experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer. The role will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of engine design and development.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Role:
• You will be an excellent problem solver and able to apply this skill to a range of issues from new concept design to current product problem resolution. Your team will be responsible for the detail definition, individual models, full engine assemblies and the design documentation to back up the solution.
• You will be senior member of a team overseeing and mentoring junior members supporting ICE platforms (including Hydrogen) taking designs from concept to production, ensuring robust design techniques are used to produce world class products.
• Working with internal customers to integrate engine solutions into end heavy duty products.
• You will be an expert in CAD, (Siemens NX preferred), with the ability to back up designs with the required technical documentation.
• You will be an expert in detailing and applying GD&T with the ability to check designs and drawings.
• Understand the effectiveness and importance of relevant benchmarking.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Requirements:
• >5 years relevant experience, who demonstrate a level of knowledge allowing autonomy in their role. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who can apply their experience and knowledge to new and existing concepts, using engineering first principles to understand problems and provide robust engineering solutions. Senior engineers within the team should be able to “lead by example”, promoting professionalism and best practice across the wider business and our suppliers.
• In addition to a passion for engineering, experience of delivery, and a desire to be ‘hands-on’ with projects from concept to completion, the candidates will:
• Have a degree in an associated mechanical engineering discipline, with a sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles (showing an attention to detail, and being data driven).
• Be able to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines and plan work accordingly.
• Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
• Practical understanding of ICE operating principles.
• Experience of the application of mechanical engineering GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• An understanding of FEA is advantageous.
• Be highly skilled in producing drawings, Models and working with assemblies, Siemens NX preferred.
