Job Description
Operations Engineer – Energy & Process Plant
My client is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a complex industrial process plant. This role is ideal for someone with strong operational plant experience, excellent technical awareness, and the ability to work closely with maintenance and service teams to maximise plant availability and performance.
The Operations Engineer will act as a key site representative, ensuring day-to-day operations, planned activities, and emergent issues are managed effectively and in line with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
*
Oversee and support daily plant operations, ensuring safe and efficient performance in line with operational procedures and HSEQ standards.
*
Act as the on-site technical point of contact, providing operational and process guidance to ensure plant reliability and compliance.
*
Coordinate with maintenance teams during planned outages, maintenance activities, and emergent repair works to minimise downtime and optimise plant availability.
*
Support the planning and execution of operational routines, performance monitoring, and plant optimisation activities.
*
Monitor site activities for operational, safety, and environmental compliance; contribute to investigations of incidents, near misses, and operational deviations.
*
Provide clear technical reports, operational updates, and recommendations to both site management and client stakeholders.
*
Assist with spare parts coordination, equipment assessment, and the integration of OEM or service partner requirements into daily operations.
*
Liaise with contractors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of operational and maintenance scopes.
*
Support continuous improvement by identifying operational bottlenecks and recommending process or procedural enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
*
Strong operational plant experience gained within energy, power generation, utilities, or industrial process environments.
*
Proven experience in plant operations, maintenance coordination, or performance optimisation.
*
Good understanding of outage planning, operational readiness, permitting, and control-of-work processes.
*
Solid knowledge of HSEQ regulations and experience leading or supporting safe operations.
*
Ability to interpret technical documentation, operational data, and plant performance metrics.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with confidence working alongside clients, OEMs, and contractors.
*
Analytical thinker with a proactive, solution-driven approach to operational challenges.
