Senior Planning Consultant
This role can be based in either London, Birmingham, or Manchester – majority of this role is working from home

As a Senior Planning Consultant - Associate Director, this is a key role delivering high-quality consultancy across a variety of planning projects which includes planning and private planning, working with SME’s/builders, appraisals, applications, appeals, land promotion, and enforcement within the residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and employment sectors.
As a Senior Planning Consultant – Associate Director, candidates must be able to demonstrable a track record of sourcing your own clients or able to bring your own portfolio of clients and ideally have urban or rural experience. Candidates may also have previously done private consultancy work.
As a Senior Planning Consultant – Associate Director, you will play an active role in identifying and securing new business opportunities, as well as maintaining and growing existing client relationships. You will also be self-sufficient developing business to meet individual and team targets and be instrumental in driving the success of a national consultancy, whilst delivering expert advice and support to clients across the UK.
Candidates Skills
* Degree in Town Planning or a relevant field or qualified by experience.
* Candidates must hold a full RTPI membership, this is essential.
* Significant post-qualification experience in consultancy or local authority roles.
* Demonstrate successfully managing complex planning projects and leading client relationships.
* Proven track record developing business as well as client growth strategies.
* Commercially minded with experience generating sustained fee income.
* Advanced knowledge of planning policy, legislation, and appeals processes.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience in fee generation and team management.
* Excellent communication skills, written and spoken.
* Ability to influence stakeholders and present at public forums.
* Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.
Duties
* Able to manage your own caseload and clients, and offer high-level advice, guidance and build long-term relationships.
* Prepare and submit larger and more complex planning applications and appeals.
* Attend regular committee meetings, hearings, and public examinations.
* Conduct, research, and undertake planning appraisals to establish the development of potential sites whilst also researching planning policies and formulating strategies to maximise the prospect of success.
* Able to write high quality reports with recommendations.
* Communicate clearly with all the main stakeholders involved in the planning process.
* Attend site visits and client meetings.
* Contribute to business development through networking, identifying new opportunities, and preparing fee proposals
