Contract Details: Contract Type: Temporary Hourly Rate: £24.22 End Date: January 30, 2026 Working Pattern: Full Time Driving Required: Yes (pool cars available) What You'll Be Doing: As a Senior Planning Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering the council's statutory planning policy framework. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing Examination Evidence: Develop matter statements that articulate the council's stance on policies and allocations within the Submission Local Plan. Leading Modifications: Craft main modifications and statements of common ground, collaborating with neighbouring authorities and government agencies. Reviewing Representations: analyse submissions from participants, formulating thoughtful officer responses. Expert Witness Role: utilise your expertise during the Local Plan examination, contributing to public hearing sessions. Project Management: Oversee the commissioning and management of external consultants, producing vital technical evidence and supporting studies. Presenting Findings: Share insights during internal senior officer briefings, formal council meetings, and external engagements. What We Need From You, To succeed in this role, you should possess: A degree or equivalent qualification in a related field, such as town planning. Significant experience in planning practise, particularly in housing policy/supply and site allocations. Proven expertise in preparing for and delivering evidence at Local Plan or Development Plan Document examinations. Eligibility or intent to work towards membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute. A comprehensive understanding of planning policy and legislation related to local plan making. Why Join Us?
