Senior Project Manager – Water / Heavy Civils
Location: Kendal
Employment Type: Permanent (Freelance would also be considered)
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + Car Allowance & Package

A leading Regional Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major infrastructure scheme in Kendal, delivering complex works on the Better Rivers Framework.
This £10m–£15m project involves tunnels beneath the River, installation of storm storage tanks, deep drainage, and associated infrastructure. With works commencing in the next couple of months, the contractor is looking to appoint a technically strong Project Leader who can join the business and take ownership of the scheme from early stages through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the planning and execution of a £10m–£15m Civil Infrastructure Project
* Manage site teams, subcontractors, and client interfaces to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality outcomes
* Oversee programme management, cost control, risk mitigation, and resource allocation
* Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
* Chair progress meetings, provide technical leadership, and report directly to senior stakeholders
* Drive collaboration across the supply chain and delivery teams
Candidate Requirements:
* Strong technical background in Civil Engineering, ideally having progressed from an engineering role
* Proven track record managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects (£10m+ value)
* HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
* Valid CSCS (Managerial), SMSTS, and First Aid certifications
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* Experience in water, tunnelling, or complex drainage schemes is highly advantageous
