Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next challenge in the Water sector?
Our client, a leading main contractor within the water and environmental sector, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to join their team, initially on a contract basis with the opportunity to move into a permanent role for the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity to work across a range of water, flood defence, and environmental infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of vital upgrades across the North West, including schemes for the Environment Agency and United Utilities.
About the Role:
As a Project Manager, you will oversee a programme of infrastructure works including rising mains, flood alleviation, river engineering, and coastal defence schemes across the North West region.
You will be responsible for managing multiple projects from inception through to completion, ensuring safe, efficient, and right-first-time delivery. You will lead a team of delivery professionals and act as the primary point of contact for the client and wider project stakeholders, including local authorities, environmental bodies, highways authorities, and client operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets across multiple schemes
Coordinate and monitor project activities, ensuring timely execution and achievement of objectives
Implement effective project management methodologies and best practices to optimise performance
Attend project start-up meetings and liaise regularly with the P6 planning team to maintain up-to-date programmes
Allocate and manage project resources effectively to maximise productivity and minimise waste
Ensure compliance with client requirements, environmental regulations, and industry standards, including permits and licences
Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
Proven project management experience within the Water, Utilities, or Environmental sector
Strong knowledge of project management techniques including resource management, cost planning, monitoring, and programme management
Experience delivering flood defence, river, coastal, or heavy civils schemes is highly desirable
Awareness of both clean and wastewater networks
Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
