Senior Quantity Surveyor (Freelance) - Energy / Overhead Lines (OHL)
Location: Bristol/Taunton
Rate: £550 per day
Duration: 6-month contract
Type: Freelance/Contract
TRIbuild Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading energy infrastructure client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a commercial team supporting overhead line (OHL) energy projects across the Bristol/Taunton region. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior QS with strong energy or utilities sector experience to take a lead commercial role across a live project portfolio.
The Role
Lead the preparation of reports, claims, and commercial documentation within agreed timescales
Build and maintain strong working relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers
Monitor project risks, maintain risk registers, and oversee subcontractor/supplier management including quotations, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts
Manage compensation events, contract costs, and project profitability
Identify and manage variations, delays, and claims
Drive financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvements
Attend project meetings and maintain commercial records and manuals
Work closely with commercial and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery
Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies
Undertake additional duties as required to support business and customer needsWhat We're Looking For
Substantial Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within the energy, utilities, or OHL sector
Strong understanding of NEC or similar contract forms, including compensation events
Proven track record managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final accounts
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Comfortable working across the Bristol/Taunton regionContract Details
Day rate: £550 (negotiable depending on experience)
Duration: 6 months
