With 6+ years’ experience within the industry, our client (Experts in onsite power generation) is developing an enviable reputation as a leading engineering company, utilising state of the art CHP (Combined Heat & Power) Systems to produce reliable power at approximately 50% less than the cost of grid electricity. By designing and implementing bespoke energy solutions that empower businesses to reduce their carbon footprint whilst maximising profit & efficiency, they provide continuous and ongoing support to their client base as a one stop shop.
The business has achieved steady YOY growth across the UK and have recently won a £10 Million order book of projects through its market potential and business strategy which will increase its presence in the industry.
They are involved in various project types including sustainability, battery storage, CHP. Solar, and cooling systems. These tend to be on industrial sites, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, hotels, wastewater treatment plants, and factories.
Role
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor / Procurement Manager, you will support the CEO; helping to drive efficiencies; managing costs and performance for their clients. This role will see you take control of all financial aspects of the projects, overseeing all commercial & contractual matters. You will deliver desired margin return utilising high standards of commercial acumen. Whilst identifying, recording and tracking, both risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone to:
* Manage and monitor project costs to support commercial manager with monthly P&L reporting
* Review contract documents and advise on any issues
* Buying capital equipment such as control systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers etc.
* Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers for CHP-related goods and services
* Developing competitive procurement strategies and negotiating contracts
* Track the earned value and cash flow forecasts
* Produce and review commercial forecasts, Costs to Complete and Project Finance Reports
* Take responsibility for Subcontract Management, including raising Subcontractor Orders and Negotiating Subcontract terms
* Analyze spend data, forecasting future needs, and ensuring procurement activities align with budgetary constraints
* Place subcontract orders, agreement and certification of subcontract valuations, invoice, subcontract payments and final account agreements
* Manage and track project changes, variations and/or notices
* Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts
* Be actively involved with tenders and pricing
* Complete take-offs and estimates for new enquires
* Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects
* Visit sites throughout the UK, measure works completed, and attend client meetings (when required)
* Build a strong relationship with the stakeholders delivering the projects to allow strong cost management.
Experience
* Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
* Ideally you will have experience working in the combined heat & power sector
* Sound knowledge of contracts – NEC preferred
* Capital equipment

* Ability to prioritise workload, multi-task and work under tight time pressures
* Excellent communication skills
* High attention to detail
* Logical and proactive thinking
* Track record of reducing costs
Package / Remuneration:
The remuneration package offered at this stage is subject to the experience of the candidate, but will likely include the following:
Basic Salary: Between £60,000 - £70,000
Company Car: Car or Car Allowance
Additional: Health, Pension, laptop, mobile phone
