Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's project team delivering a major infrastructure development at Heathrow Airport. The role focuses on civils and utilities packages, including groundworks, drainage, ducting, cabling, service diversions, and associated infrastructure. This is a high-profile, safety-critical environment requiring excellent commercial acumen and a collaborative approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all QS activities on civils and utilities packages, from procurement through to final account.
Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and appointment in accordance with company procedures.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Monitor and report project costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
Identify risks and value engineering opportunities in collaboration with design and site teams.
Prepare and manage contract documentation (NEC, JCT, bespoke forms).
Ensure cost control and commercial governance are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with planners, engineers, and the delivery team to ensure commercial alignment.
Manage and mentor junior QS staff, promoting best practice and commercial awareness.
Interface with client commercial teams and represent the company in commercial meetings.
Essential Requirements:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline with experience in major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
Proven track record working on airport projects or other high-security, live operational environments.
Extensive experience in civils and utilities, including service diversions, drainage, and infrastructure works.
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (Option A, C, or E).
Experience in managing large subcontract packages and complex commercial negotiations.
Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK.
