Senior Quantity Surveyor – £15m Commercial Fit-Out | Berkshire | £75k–£85k + Package OR Freelance 🚧
The Opportunity:
We had a fascinating call this morning with a long-standing client—a dynamic and growing Commercial Fit-Out & Refurb Contractor—on the cusp of securing a major £15m project in the Berkshire Area. They’re now looking to bring in a Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to take full commercial lead on what promises to be a complex, multi-package scheme.
The Project:
A full-scale fit-out and refurbishment of an existing commercial building, including:
Refurbishment of reception and public areas
External cladding and curtain walling
A substantial £1m soft landscaping & groundworks package
Around 30–40 subcontractor packages to manage
A high-spec, intricate programme needing sharp commercial oversight
The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor:
-This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
-You’ll be responsible for running the commercial function end-to-end, with key responsibilities including:
-Leading all commercial aspects of the project
-Writing and issuing contractual letters
-Managing change control and variation processes
-Ensuring documentation is correct, complete, and properly filed
-Potentially overseeing and mentoring an AQS/QS for take-offs, comparisons & enquiries
The Ideal Candidate:
-Experienced SQS, ideally with a background in commercial fit-outs or refurb projects
-Comfortable leading multiple packages and navigating complex scopes
-Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
-Able to work autonomously and proactively, while collaborating with wider project teams
Salary & Package:
£75,000 – £85,000 + package (car, bonus, etc.)
OR freelance day rate – open to discussion for the right candidate
Location:
Site-based in Reading, with some flexibility depending on project phaseBefore You Apply
