Job Description
Abatec are proud to be partnered with a strategic civil engineering contractor on site at Devonport Dockyard who have secured a £43m contract to deliver a high specification jetty. Our client requires an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established commercial team based on site in Plymouth.
With an impressive £260m turnover our client is well-positioned to support complex, major infrastructure and marine engineering projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-value, complex works within a secure environment, supporting national defence infrastructure.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
* Lead all commercial and contractual activities across the jetty delivery package
* Preparation, submission, and negotiation of interim applications and final accounts
* Procurement and management of subcontract packages
* Provide accurate project forecasting, cost/value reconciliations and cash flow management
* Support contract administration under NEC4 contracts
* Identify and mitigate commercial risks in collaboration with delivery teams
* Provide commercial input during progress meetings and client reviews
* Ensure compliance with project controls and internal governance
* Mentor and support junior commercial staff as appropriate
Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with:
* Proven track record working on civils, marine or infrastructure projects
* Minimum 5+ years post-qualification experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS role
* Strong understanding of NEC contracts
* Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial management of works packages
* Prior exposure to projects within secure or COMAH-regulated environments (desirable)
* Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering
* Proficient in cost reporting tools and Microsoft Excel
Salary and benefits include:
* £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
* Company vehicle / car allowance
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Contributory pension scheme
