Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of a key infrastructure project based at a major water treatment facility in South London. This is a long-term programme of work forming part of an essential upgrade to the region’s clean and wastewater network.
You’ll work closely with operational leads and senior stakeholders to ensure full control of cost, contract management, and commercial performance across the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will bring confidence managing subcontractor packages, identifying risk, and driving cost-efficiency within a regulated environment.
The Role
*
Oversee all commercial aspects of a complex water infrastructure project from pre-construction through delivery and final account.
*
Produce, monitor, and update CVRs, forecasts, and monthly cost reports.
*
Manage the procurement and administration of subcontract packages, including performance monitoring and payment certification.
*
Handle the preparation and agreement of applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
*
Lead client-facing commercial meetings and support internal reporting requirements.
*
Ensure full compliance with contract terms (primarily NEC and IChemE) and internal commercial procedures.
*
Identify risk, implement mitigation strategies, and work proactively to capture commercial opportunities.
*
Collaborate closely with planning, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure aligned delivery.
Requirements
*
Substantial experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS role within civil engineering, utilities, or water sector projects.
*
Familiar with live operational sites and the challenges of working in heavily regulated environments.
*
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
*
Proven background in managing commercial processes, subcontractors, and change control on complex projects.
*
Comfortable preparing and presenting cost/value reports, cashflows, and forecasts.
Desirable
*
Experience managing subcontract packages involving design teams or design deliverables.
*
Background working on clean or wastewater treatment facilities.
*
Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (degree or HND).
*
Chartered or working towards chartership (RICS, ICES, etc.).
*
Understanding of regulatory or environmental frameworks within the water industry.
