Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: North West, UK (Greater Manchester / Merseyside / Cheshire / Lancashire – site and office-based) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + car allowance + benefits Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Reporting to: Director Company Overview: We are a specialist remediation contractor operating across the North West and nationally, delivering brownfield land remediation, earthworks, and enabling works for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Our reputation is built on technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to safety, sustainability, and compliance. Due to sustained growth and a strong order book, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team, who is looking to pogress into a Commercial Manager role. Role Overview: As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of remediation and enabling works projects from tender stage through to final account. You will support project teams with cost management, contract administration, procurement, and financial reporting, ensuring the commercial success of each project. Key Responsibilities: * Take full commercial responsibility for multiple remediation/enabling works projects * Prepare, submit and manage interim applications for payment and final accounts * Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions (NEC3/4, JCT, etc.) * Lead subcontractor procurement including tendering, negotiation, and appointment * Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and variations * Work with operational teams to monitor project budgets and forecasts * Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks * Provide monthly cost/value reconciliations and accurate commercial reporting * Attend client meetings and maintain positive stakeholder relationships * Ensure compliance with internal processes, policies, and legal/regulatory frameworks * Mentor and support junior commercial staff Requirements: Essential: * Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline * Minimum 5+ years’ post-grad experience in a QS role, with at least 2 years at a senior level * Strong background in remediation, earthworks, or civil engineering contracting * Proficiency in NEC3/NEC4 and JCT forms of contract * Excellent understanding of cost control, valuation processes, and commercial reporting * Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills * Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively * Full UK driving licence Desirable: * MRICS or working towards chartership * Experience with estimating and tender support * Familiarity with contaminated land legislation and environmental compliance What We Offer: * Competitive salary + car allowance * Pension scheme * 25 days annual leave + bank holidays * Career development and training opportunities * Supportive and collaborative team environment * Long-term progression within a growing business
