Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor | (Office Based - Richmond) | Perm or Freelance | Nov 25
This is a London-based contractor active across the Health, Education, Residential, Office and Retail sectors. With a reputation for technical quality, integrity, and long-term client relationships, They are now looking to appoint a Principal QS to support growth and delivery of complex projects.
You'll sit directly under the MD and lead cost management across their portfolio, with real autonomy from day one.
The Role
• Lead cost planning, estimating, and commercial management across multiple live projects
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities, cost statements, and variation analysis
• Manage subcontractor procurement, variation negotiations, and contract administration
• Monitor project cost performance, forecasting, and financial reporting to MD
• Oversee change control, claims, risk registers, and value engineering
• Conduct commercial site visits, cost audits, and support handover cost reconciliation
• Mentor and guide junior QS staff or support as required
What they're looking for
• At least 5 years' post-graduate experience in QS roles, ideally within contracting environment
• Strong track record in healthcare, education, or technically demanding sectors (slight bias toward candidates with healthcare exposure)
• Excellent commercial acumen, robust contract and procurement knowledge
• Confident communicator, organised, able to influence stakeholders across design and delivery teams
