Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home Location: Northampton Salary: £28,080 per annum + £50 per sleep-in (8–10 sleep-ins per month) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Shift Pattern: 24-hour shifts – 1 day on, 2 days off Are you a Senior Support Worker with a passion for making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our nurturing and therapeutic children’s residential home in Northampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Support Worker looking to take the next step in their career and provide meaningful, life-changing care. About the Role As a Senior Support Worker in our children’s residential home, you’ll work directly with children and young people aged 8–17 who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. You'll be an integral part of a supportive team, delivering structured, therapeutic care and helping them achieve emotional stability, independence, and brighter futures. You will work a consistent 24-hour shift pattern (1 day on, 2 days off), including 8–10 sleep-ins per month (paid at £50 each). Key Responsibilities of the Senior Support Worker Role: * Deliver high-quality daily care and emotional support in line with each child’s individual care plan. * Lead shifts confidently, maintaining routines, ensuring safety, and supporting consistent standards of care. * Act as a positive and resilient role model for children and young people. * Respond to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches. * Promote the educational, social, and health development of each young person. * Work alongside professionals such as social workers, therapists, and education providers. * Support and guide junior support staff as part of your leadership responsibilities. * Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, including safeguarding reports and incident documentation. * Champion safeguarding at all times, protecting the welfare of children in your care. Requirements for the Senior Support Worker Position: * At least 2 years of experience in residential childcare or a similar care setting. * Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or working towards this qualification). * Strong leadership and communication skills to manage team dynamics during shifts. * A clear understanding of safeguarding policies and trauma-informed care. * Ability to work 24-hour shifts and commit to regular sleep-ins. * Passionate about making a long-term difference in young lives.
